Martin Van Buren stated in his Will that the last and happiest days of his life were spent at Lindenwald.
You, too, can experience the delight President Van Buren had for his property and the adjoining countryside. Saturday, the 23th of September, 2017, join the National Park Service and Kinderhook Runners Club for a scenic 4 mile trail run traversing three centuries of Dutch Farming over the farmlands of Lindenwald, Roxbury Farm and the Luykas Van Alen House.
After everyone has caught their breath, there will be tours of Martin Van Buren's home beginning at 9:00 and repeating at the top of every hour through 4:00. The Columbia County Historical Society’s Luykas Van Alen House is open as well. So bring your families and take the opportunity to walk the grounds, take a tour, perhaps try a little geocaching or visit our excellent Farmer's Market at the village square.
The Martin Van Buren National Historic Site is located on Route 9H, two miles south of the Village of Kinderhook, New York. You can find out more about park activities and programs or enjoy a virtual tour of President Van Buren’s home at www.nps.gov/mava.
